Outdoor Workshop 13th August
This relaxed outdoor drawing workshop will explore ways to draw inspiration from our surroundings, turning what we can see and hear into a combination of literal drawing and abstract markmaking.
This workshop shares Orla's research process, and her favourite drawing exercises for capturing and generating ideas. We'll be focusing on new ways of drawing, seeing and exploration, over creating final drawings.
This worshop is perfect for all stages of artist - if you're looking for new ways to approach your practice, or wanting to draw for the first time, this is the perfect place to start.
We will be working with charcoal, oil pastels and chalks on paper, and exploring how to create fast, loose and expressive plein air sketches . All materials provided.
If you would like to work with any additional materials, please feel free to bring them along.
This class is based in Callander. The workshop will be fully outdoors, so please bring layers and waterproofs, and wear warm, old clothes.
We will be following a very gentle and flat walk along the river, to the paved cycle route 7. Distance & pace will be set to what feels comfortable for everyone.
The workshop will run from 11am - 1pm, meeting at The Clubhouse, by Callander Meadows Car Park:
You'll find additional parking at Callander Station Road Car Park:
Please note we will be working outside, without toilet facilities. We won't be walking far, within a 30 minute walk of the town centre.
Please bring any drinks and snacks that you'd like.
Public Toilet Facilities are found here, or in one of the many coffee shops:
