The Joy of Noticing

The Joy of Noticing is a celebration of everyday moments and memories, exploring the wild landscapes of Scotland, Ireland, the colour and energy of Edinburgh, and the quiet joys that can be found right on our doorstep. Each painting has been made through a process of slowing down, paying attention, and finding wonder in the small details all around us, wherever we happen to be.

This body of work blends key memories with on-location observation to capture a sense of place. At its heart, this exhibition is a return to that child-like sense of wonder that surfaces when we stop to look closely at nature and the world around us.

The work moves between perspectives, studying nature up-close where unexpected colours and textures are revealed, to the sweeping vistas that evoke a sense of awe. By weaving these together, the paintings invite you to rediscover a sense of playfulness and joy in noticing the world both familiar and new with fresh eyes.
